Rindler bought half-interest in a business that was being operated out of the back of a local blacksmith shop. The business was operated as Chickasaw Garage, and in May 1934 was moved to the present location on St. Rt. 274 in Chickasaw. On January 1, 1947, Mr. Rindler bought the other half of the business and continued to operate it under Chickasaw Garage. He later sold the business to his son, Don, in 1968. A few years later in August 1973 Arnold Homan purchased Chickasaw Garage, which was in great need of repair. The east half of the building was used for storage by a local hardware store, while the west half was only used for the garage business. At the back of the building was an old house attached by the porch to the northwest corner of the garage building. This house was once the home of Edward and Elizabeth Rindler and their four children. At the time Homan bought the business the house was used for storage and in very bad shape.
In 1974 Homan purchased the local hardware store and was able to remodel and enlarge the garage, because he now owned both halves. The entire top story of the double building was taken down, and a complete new second story was added. That second story was then made into two large apartments. The old house behind the garage was taken down, while a new addition was added to the north end, allowing for more working space, an office, and restrooms. The entire building is now the Chickasaw Garage. Years later on November 28, 1989, Chickasaw Garage was gutted by fire. Fortunately, Homan remodeled once again to the present day facility.
On January 1, 1993, Bob and Marian Heitbrink bought Chickasaw Garage. Bob's dad, Tom, worked and managed the garage for Ed Rindler and Arnold Homan. Tom eventually retired, after 45 years of service. Bob also worked for Rindler and Homan, starting out by sweeping floors and fixing tires at the age of 12. His dream has always been to be able to own and operate Chickasaw Garage. Since 1993, Bob has continually tried to upgrade equipment and technology. His son, Ted, is also following tradition - working at the garage since the age of 12, and sweeping floors and fixing tires. Ted continued his education at Northwestern Business College, and now works full time for his mom and dad.
