Tonight I had the worst experience I have ever had at a store. My sons and I went to this store to purchase items to make goodie bags and purchase balloons for a speacial treat for the kids working so hard on SOL's to help this process to be a positve one. We went straight to the candy where my older son who will turn 12 tomorrow picked up 2 bags of suckers that I asked for as we were looking at candy while walking deciding what else to get my son by mistake stepped on one candy box that was left on the floor. He didn't see it as he was looking up as soons as he felt that he had stepped on something he said oh & quickly bent his knee up to go to the side, apparently the cashier( she claimed to be the assistant mngr) looked up at this very moment to shout from the front of the store to my son I saw you stomp on that pick it up right now and demanded he pay for it, she repeated herself more than once, all this with a line of people that could not see the candy on the floor or exactly how it happened. It was so humiliating and we were completely taken back, in shock like dear caught in headlights. I told her it was an accident he didn't see them I was standing 2 ft away. My son is one of the kindest most respectful people/kid I know. He had no reason to do this and is not a destructive child. He was so upset that she had shamed him so insisting he did it on purpose & he knew he didn't do it on purpose but as he always wants to be a good kids (he's a boyscout, honor roll, band student that I have never been told anything other than how respectful he is) he kept trying to pull out his money that he had just earned doing yard work. I asked him to put it away. I addressed her and said that it wasn't on purpose the candy was laying on the floor. She continued to insult my sons character, she initially would not give me the number to corporate, said that I could look it up online. I called another store and spoke to a very nice lady that was able to give me the number in 30 seconds. Meanwhile she speaks to the customers in line about how children are disrespectful these days they need to be taught a lesson. I do teach my children to respect others especially their elders. My children did not speak one ill word to her, but she most certainly did not show them the same respect, quite the opposite actually. Unfortunately the office was closed, but I plan on calling tomorrow to give the complete details. I hope that this was caught on their camera and I am planning to request a sincere apology to my son, I feel that's the least she can do. On the way home he tells me "I don't care to pay for it I'm just sad she yelled at me". Upon arrival to our house he says to me "Thank you mommy for standing up for me". This doesn't sound like the disrespectful child this lady tried to paint.
