The American Line Builders Chapter was established in 1956 for the purpose providing members an effective agency through which to express their collective voice on issues effecting the line construction industry. Today the Chapter represents qualified, reliable, and experienced line contractors in the District of Columbia, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia. Within these areas, the Chapter maintains relationships with the following IBEW local unions: 17, 51, 70, 71, 145, 193, 196, 245, 309, 317, 369, 649, 702, 876, 934, and 1393. The Chapter currently has 40 members, who perform various types of outside electrical construction services in these areas. The Chapter provides members with services in the areas of Labor Relations, Educational Services, Safety Training, and Government Affairs. Included in the Chapter's areas of support are the following: The Chapter is the collective bargaining agent for contractors signatory to the following agreements: The Chapter serves as liaison to government agencies such as OSHA and DOL, keeping members informed of the latest government regulations affecting their business and construction projects. The Chapter provides networking opportunities for contractors through membership meetings held twice yearly. The Chapter is a resource center where contractors can obtain information on most topics affecting the industry.
