The John A. Becker Company, known as Becker's, was founded during 1920 in Dayton, Ohio by John Adam Becker. The company is an independent family-owned business of lighting centers, and a distributor of electrical supplies and automation controls. With company offices based in Dayton, Ohio, Becker's has established businesses in a total of seven locations throughout Indiana and Ohio. In the early 1980's they moved into the Cincinnati market. In 1985, the growth of the business necessitated a move to a larger and newer facility of 38,000-sq. ft. of warehouse and office space. During 1990, the company opened a branch office in Columbus, Ohio and moved into a 23,000-sq. ft. distribution facility. In 1996, Becker's opened a 10,000-sq. ft. branch facility in Sidney, Ohio. Expanding outside Ohio boundaries for the first time, in 1997 Becker's opened a site in Rockport, Indiana, approximately 240 miles west of Cincinnati, to serve an expanding customer base. In 1999, Becker's acquired the net assets of Electric Heat and Supply which became the EH&S division of Becker Electric Supply with branches in Brookville and Piqua, Ohio. Today, the John A. Becker Company employs over 250 people. The company's future looks promising, and the Becker family is committed to remaining an independent family owned electrical distributor.
