In 1937, a team known as the Cincinnati Bengals was formed as a member of the American Football League. After that season the AFL folded. The Cincinnati Bengals spent two years in a new AFL in 1940-41, but that league folded as well. Then the franchise reemerged in the modern-era American Football League as an expansion team for the 1968 season. The Cincinnati Bengals are now a part of the National Football League as one of four teams in the North Division of the American Football Conference. The team s home is Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati. The President of the Bengal organization is Mike Brown and the coach is Marvin Lewis. The Bengals have reached the NFL Championship Game twice since the introduction of the Super Bowl. The team met the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowls XVI and XXVIII and lost both games by five points or less.
