Buyer Beware!

In November of 2010 my boyfriend purchased a car for me at Grandpa’s Auto Sales from James A. Stein. While looking at the cars he had on his lot, we specifically stated that we wanted a dependable car that would not need a lot of work. He showed us a 99 Chevy Metro that he said fit what we were looking for. Exactly 24 hours after purchasing the car the ‘check engine’ light came on. I took the car to a shop, the code was pulled and I was told that it was the catalytic converter and that the front axel needed to be replaced also. The mechanic said it was highly probable that the light had been reset. Next, I was pulled over by the Ohio State Police because the window tinting was too dark. The officer said that I had to have it removed and that I would be pulled over again and given a $100 ticket each time. I found out that is illegal for a dealer to sell a car with tinting that is more than 50% in Ohio. Then, after owning the car only 2 months, the transmission went out. I was stranded on a busy, 45 mph two-lane road with four children in my car. I had to have the kids walk the rest of the way home from school in the snow while I waited for help. I would never purchased another car from Grandpa’s Auto Sales.
