first time visiting

I looked up a place to go for a more grown up atmosphere and Mr. Pitifuls was one of the places I saw listed. I visited the place and there was a few people in the bar. I ordered a drink and decided to stay for possibly a second. The place looked to have a jazzy type atmosphere to it, but the other half of the bar was empty . What I found to be distasteful is the boisterous sound of bartender talking negatively about the owner and his children and how he talks down to them in a vulger manner. I believe he forgot I, an African-American was at the other end of the because he began talking about the "sistas" that the owner is always dating. The people he was talking to suddenly got quiet and began glancing at me. He then turned in my direction, at the other end of the bar and looked at me and then went to the back storage room and stayed there until I left which was 10 min. Later. I felt awkward, as a African-American woman, and not valued as a customer.

Pitiful first impression

I just left Mr. Pitiful’s (30 minutes ago) 2/16/2011 11:30 PM EST. The bar had four customers; the Bartender was not welcoming. I assume his cold personality is conditioned by the type of cliental he is accustomed to serving.

Mr. Pitiful’s is a nice looking bar; the bar is clean and well maintained. Half of the bar was dark and not in use. There is one 6’ Pool Table in back.

I was sent to Mr. Pitiful’s on a recommendation, as a wonderful place to celebrate a Birthday. I have 63 people looking to celebrate, Friday 2/18/2011.

I was asked to leave the Bar, after only 6 minutes.

I entered the bar with my work clothes: White Collar Shirt and Suite Pants.

Mentioned I was there to see what the bar had to offer.

Immediately I noticed an empty Pool Table in back; went to shoot pool, when the Bartender asked what I wanted to Drink. After telling him I do not want a drink, he said you have to order a drink. I asked if I could play a game of pool, he said no; I would need to leave.

Six minutes later, I left Mr. Pitiful’s realizing how the name says it all. There is not a sign on the door or window that says “one drink minimum”.

I do NOT Recommend Mr. Pitiful’s.
