Established in 1912, the Industrial Commission of Ohio is a state agency that serves workers and employers by providing medical benefits and compensation to individuals who suffer work-related injuries or occupational diseases. The commission is responsible for providing a forum for fair and impartial claims resolution, conducting hearings on disputed claims and adjudicating claims involving an violation of specific safety requirements by employers. It also determines eligibility for permanent total disability benefits. The Industrial Commission of Ohio conducts more than 180,000 hearings every year. The commission is lead by a board of commissioners, appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the Ohio Senate. With more than 15 offices throughout the state of Ohio, the Industrial Commission of Ohio maintains one of its locations in Cincinnati.
