We had several problems on our visit to Portrait Innovations. During the shoot the camera flash broke, so some of the pictures had horrible lighting. The poses were not the most professional, in my opinion. The photographer didn't try to get the kids to smile. How is the photographer suppose to get a good picture by just sitting there and not interacting? It is not my job to get the child to smile, because then they look at me and not the camera. Then the photo printer broke, so we had to come back the next day to pick up the pictures. When we got our package home, we were missing some prints and had to return a third time. But, those were not our biggest problems.

We had also discovered that the CD that we were encouraged to buy had only very small versions of our portraits. The full size images are on the CD, BUT can only be opened by their software at the store for more prints. They will charge you $4 a sheet at the time of the shoot, but will charge you a whopping $11 a sheet if you bring the CD back for prints. I had explained to Jason, the photographer/salesman, that I specifically needed the full size version of the pictures, because I had family that lived out of town. Since it is not easy to mail pictures successfully and Portrait Innovations does not have the ability to order prints online, I needed to be able to upload pictures so my family can print in their different cities. I was told repeatedly that the CD would be fine for this, but much to my dismay, the images aren't even good enough quality/resolution to print a 4x6 photo. Why would I spend money on a CD with these tiny images that are good for nothing?!?

When I had returned to the store the third time to request the prints that had not been printed, I asked to speak with the store manager, Landon. He was busy conducting a shoot, so I began talking to a short, stocky woman with dark hair. She asked who my photographer/salesman was and I told her. She then went and got him. I felt as if this was going to go no where, because I know this guy had lied to me once already, so why would he have problem doing it again?!? There was a reason that I had asked for a manager: I did not want to deal with this guy again.

So, I asked Jason again for the full size images on a CD. This time he again led me to believe that he was giving me the full size, copyright released images. He said he was going to put a copyright release in my folder with the new prints and the CD. He even tried to put my mind at ease by telling me that he had no problem opening them on the computer in their printer room without having to use their corporate software. When I returned home, I found that the CD was simply an exact copy of the previous CD. He had no problem lying to me TWICE about what was on the CD. When I pulled out the so-called copyright release paper, it is only a paper about how to contact the corporate office for a copyright release and the full size of ONE image for a specific purpose. In order to get a copyright release for ONE image, I would have to tell them which one, what size it would be, how many prints would be made, and the phone number for one location where it would be printed. Jason knew exactly what I was asking for and knew that this would not help my situation at all. He was deceptive in both his original selling of the CD AND in the follow up request for the full size images. I spent $200 at our sitting, so I think I at least deserve (1) honesty and (2) the full size version of our portraits.

I wanted to email the corporate office with my disapproval, but there is no way to email the corporate office - they just refer you to call your local store. Obviously, they were no help and were extremely deceptive at that location. What kind of company does not allow customers to contact corporate office via email?
