Safeway, located in Clackamas, Ore., is a bread making plant owned and operated by its parent company, Safeway. Safeway Incorporated, is one of the largest supermarket chains in the United States and trades publicly on the New York Stock exchange under the ticker symbol SWY. Customers can choose from more than 2,500 products, including the store s private label brands-Safeway, Lucerne and Mrs. Wright's. Safeway traces its roots to 1914 when the company was founded under the Selig name. In 1925, Selig changed its name to Safeway, and in 1926, was merged with Skaggs stores.
