Bad experience!

This company uses deceptive tactics to deceive the home owner and they charge you for services you don't need. My house in Springfield VT has had a problem with roots for years. The roots clog up the sewer line about halfway out to the main sewer line. The sewage backs up in to the basement periodically and I usually use a snake to clear the clog but it is time consuming and I have to do it repeatedly to get it cleared enough to flow enough. After getting fed up with this I called Rooterman. Their standard procedure is to charge 49.99 to come out and give you a quote to fix the problem. So they com out and I explain that there is a root problem and that it's been this way for years. The tech nods knowingly and say they will power snake it for 349.00. I show them the clean out and they get to work. One half hour later they ask me to come take look at the camera and the show me a black rubber object and say it looks like a tire off a kids toy is causing the problem and they can't move it in either direction. After puzzling over this for a minute I realize that the cover gasket for the clean out is missing and that they have pushed it down the pipe. The tech says, "Well it must have slipped down the pipe." Clearly, they must think I'm an idiot because I have had that cover off dozens of times and removed/replaced the gasket an equal amount of times and the gasket does not slip down, and, in fact, the pipe is shouldered and the gasket does not fit down the pipe unless it is pushed in some way. So they decide now that maybe they can remove the "tire"and they do push it out to the main line. They then call me again and show me via the pipe cam that there are roots and the pipes are cracked and that there isn't much they can do but dig it up and replace it - which they can do - for 5,000.00... approximately. I tell them this is not an option cost wise and the tech says we could water jet for another 500.00 fee but they really need to water jet form the main back towards the house to avoid washing the dirt towards the house. Which they do. In the end it cost me over 1000.00 and in the end - because I left for an appointment - they water jetted the line from the basement instead of the main. I called them and the why they did it that way and they gave a lame excuse about not being able to get access to the manhole. Bad, bad experience and I will never ever use this company again!
