Located in Clarkesville, Tenn., Burt Elementary School is one of several elementary schools in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. Founded in 1952, the elementary school opened as a segregated high school for African-American students. Burt Elementary School has more than 10 classrooms for over 200 students in grades four and five. In addition, the school maintains a special education classroom. The elementary school s library offers books, journals, magazines and other reference materials. The elementary school also serves breakfast and lunch to children. The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System additionally operates Liberty Elementary School and Norman Smith Elementary School.
