Ray's IGA, or simply Ray's, has been my only choice for my grocery shopping since moving to Clay Center some 19 months ago. Granted, there is another grocery in town, and if I wanted I could travel to Manhattan or Junction City to buy my groceries from their much larger stores. But I prefer to do my shopping at Ray's.
I like the product selection I'm offered: I can choose between name brands and in-house labels; the produce is fresh and the best of in-season; the meats are beautiful and I can have them cut to my specs; frozen food selection is terrific; baked goods are fresh and of many different types, from breads to cakes and cookies to pies; dairy offers much more than just milk and butter; the overall selection throughout the store is great!
However, the real reason I am a Ray's patron is its employees. From Stocker to Manager, Cashier to Butcher, A to Z I love shopping at Ray's because of the people. When I'm there I'm always greeted with smiles and a friendly word or two. I've become reacquainted with friends from the past (example: I lived across the alley from the Frozen Foods Manager when we were kids) and now include others as new friends.
Ray's staff are not just courteous but knowledgeable and professional: Department Managers always put out their best; Stockers see to it the shelves are stocked, especially with sale items; the Butchers keep the coolers supplied and are ready for those special orders; Cashiers handle check-out quickly and accurately; and all do their job with a smile and positive attitude.
For me and my money it's Ray's all the way!
(And you can even fill your gas tank when you're there.)
