NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH HUDSON"S HARDWARE I am a resident homeowner in Clayton for 3 years now. I have previously visited this store for various items (usually home landscaping projects). Although they have a limited selection and are higher priced; I have tried to support local small business with my patronage anyway. Last week I went in to buy a replacement circuit breaker w/a arc fault combination and the associate handed me 1 of 2 types the had in stock. I told him it looked nothing like what I was replacing. He said it should still work because it too was for a 15 amp load. Once home the electrician said it was not the correct item so I went back today 11/11/13 to return it. The manager on duty said they have a NO RETURN policy! I explained it was the wrong size and was never used but he refused to listen or accept it back. I have decided to use the power of the consumer AND NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH HUDSON"S HARDWARE AGAIN writing off the $10.67 cost as tuition. A word of advice to my fellow consumers: Stick w/larger, more reputable business with a clear & understandable return policy, more informed associates and NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH HUDSON"S HARDWARE!!!

I saw a negative review, and I wanted to add my two cents. I've used Hudson's for years. I usually come in for something specific, then browse around for other items. Almost always, someone asks me if I need help. This has been true in the outdoor (plants) section, as well as the general hardware section. They seem friendly and genuinely want to help, and often do help me when I need something specific.The outdoor equipment guys can be a little intimidating, but they have helped me order parts with no fuss.Overall, I appreciate having an option to the big box stores, where I can often not find what I need, and can't find an available employee to ask.

Both guys we asked for help were rude and acted like they didn't want to help or be there. Witnessed the same treatment to 2 other customers besides us. After 3 times asking, still got wrong item.
