McDonald's Meat's, Inc has been in the McDonald's family for three generations with the fourth close behind. John Leo McDonald took over the Fred Mosford Meat Market in 1914. His son, Richard, took over the business in 1954. The first addition was added at that time to accommodate the growing business. In 1989, Richard's son, Dave, purchased the business. Once again, another addition was added to make room for increased production. Dave also began to experiment with making jerky. Today, we are known far and wide as The Jerky Stop. We carry 19 different varieties of jerky. We have over 40 varieties of fresh and smoked meats, with many items award-winning. Our products are homemade, we have our own smokehouses and sausage kitchen located right in our facility. You will find Dave and his children all working in the business today, keeping the high commitment to quality and service John Leo started over 90 years ago! NEW! McDonald's Meats is featured in the all new Brainerd Bound book from Landmark Publishing. In this book authors Mark Rustad and Mark Utter along with photographer Curtis Johnson have captured the historic and memorable journey from the Twin Cities to Brainerd that folks have been making for decades. Brainerd Bound is 'a picture book designed to capture the landmarks along the highways linking the Twin Cities to the Brainerd Lakes region of central Minnesota.' One of those historic landmark stops along the way is McDonald's Meats. For more information or to purchase Brainerd Bound click on the book cover to visit the Brainerd Bound website.
