I have lived in NC for almost 30 years. I have looked for true NY style pizza, like I use to get when I lived up north. Mario's off Hanes Mall Blvd. is pretty good, and Elizabeth's near Hanes Mall is also pretty close to true NY style. A new place opened up just down the street from us on Rt. 150 south. It has been a pizza place at least twice before, and not very good. So I didn't have high hopes. Still it is close. So we ordered a large two topping pizza. WOW! It was exactly like I remembered it. Just the right blend of cheese. The dough had the correct texture and taste. Even the oil was the same. (Yes, get over it. Great pizza has oil on the finished masterpiece.) Going to get another one tonight. I know I have found my new favorite pizza place.
