STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS

Called this nightmare of an auto shop to try to get some simple exhaust work done, and soon realized how big of a mistake it was. First of all if I knew (or any of your customers) what they were doing, then they wouldn't be calling/bringing you their car in the first place. You are the so called mechanic am i right?Regardless, the customer service was very rude over the phone, I was laughed at when I referenced the quotes other shops gave me and told "haha your way out of budget" Talk about professional. Lets not even begin on some of the responses they give on these ratings to try to cover up their mistakes. All in all, i would not, nor will I ever recommend this half-assed shop to ANYONE unless you want to regret it.

Stay away at all costs!!

Should have known better by all the bad reviews! This is the worst customer service you will ever receive at any place of business - car sat there for 9 weeks and he never even started! Ordered an oil pan and a wiring harness (both turned out to be incorrect for my application - found out from next shop I visited) but never even began installation. Wen returning to pick everything up, he cussed and screamed, and poked my friend in the chest for "not lifting engine correctly" - found out from experience - this man will give you a fair price, but just trust me when I say it NOT worth the hassle you will experience!!

Avoid Jones Racing

My 2001 VW Beetle was shifting heavily, jerking into first and second gear, and the low coolant light comes on despite the fact that there is coolant in the reservoir.Without checking the cooling system he fixed the transmission seals and CV joints, refilled the transmission with fluid, and test drove the car. When he checked the cooling system he saw a "Frothy milkshake" of coolant and transmission fluid. Checking the transmission he saw this mess was now in the transmission. He claimed that I should have told him there was transmission fluid in the coolant (I'm not a mechanic and do not know one brown liquid from another). Because of -my- over sight the car is dead. It will cost more to fix the car than it is worth. If I wanted to fix it anyway it would cost us -at least- $2500. When I suggested that he may have made a mistake he blew a gasket. He accused me of insulting him, told me to take my car and leave, paying him the $350 we owed him. He stormed off refusing to speak further

I brought my 2001 VW Beelte in...

I brought my 2001 VW Beelte into Jones Racing describing the following issue:

"The car is shifting heavily, jerking into first and second gear, and the low coolant light comes on despite the fact that there is coolant in the reservoir".

All of my interactions have been with Jerry Jones the owner. After keeping the car for two days without working on it, he called to say the problem is a broken seal on the transmission with a loss of fluid and two broken CV joints. $350 parts plus labor. We authorize the repair, and two days after this we get another call from him saying:

He assumed to the problems were separate (coolant light and shifting). Without checking the cooling system he fixed the transmission seals and CV joints, refilled the transmission with fluid, and test drove the car. The car seemed to drive perfectly. When he checked the cooling system he saw a "Frothy milkshake" of coolant and transmission fluid. Checking the transmission again he saw that this mess was now worked completely into the transmission. He claimed that I should have told him that there was transmission fluid in the coolant (I'm not a mechanic and would have no way of telling one brown liquid from another) and because of -my- over sight the car is essentially dead. It will cost more to fix the car than it is worth. If I wanted to fix it anyway it would cost us -at least- $2500.

I took some time to look into the problem. A broken intercooler can cause the transmission fluid to back up into the cooling system. While an irritant, the cooling system can be flushed and brought back to normal. Apparently the opposite almost never happens. Because of the pressure on the transmission side, coolant rarely back tracks into the transmission. While it can, in very usual situations, mix on both sides the serious problem with the transmission was most likely caused by Jerry refilling the transmission and driving the car without first checking the intercooler and the cooling system.

A few days after making the repair I went in to speak with Jerry in person. When I suggested that he may have made a mistake he blew a gasket. He accused me of insulting him and told me to take my car and leave; after paying him the $350 we owed him for the parts. He then stormed off refusing to speak with further. We payed the $350 to get the car back, and drove it home, with it still jerking into first and second gear.

I now have a car in worse condition than when brought it to Jones Racing, needing repairs that will cost more than the car is worth; with a mechanic that refuses to work on it.

Avoid Jones Racing.

I've had Jones racing work on both of my vehicles over the past several years. They always do an excelent job at very fair prices. They go out of their way to save the customer money. It's nice to find such honest people. I'll never go anywhere else for service in Clermont.
