I know that these people are volunteers, however, they will kill you and blame you for, lie, deny any wrongdoing, and tell you it is a communication problem. I was told that they ran out of insulin. I did get information about humilin being OTC . However, I called back to find out conversion, and was told they didn't know and someone named J, would call me back. I waited, called back and was told J was still busy, I waited; and finally called back right before they closed, got nurse J on the phone, and she became quite hostile, accused me of waiting until last minute to call. Said she couldn't help me!! I was stunned! The NP told me not to go on insulin by myself, all the while J was in the room! Yes, I deserved to be reprimanded about the antibiotics I took without a prescription. I didn't think it was such a big deal, since they didn't seem to care about my insulin situation, which seems to be a lot more dire. Of course J is there to give me hell about the antibiotics, not mentioning anything about my conversation about the insulin and her attitude. When I tried explain that I felt I had no choice, J told me to stop talking and listen to the NP. NP wanted to know who I had talked to that day, I said Nurse J, I talked to you!, If she was such a medical professional, she should know, or a least give me and idea of what I am supposed to do. The NP said they had a conversion chart, and the kind of humilin that I should be on!! There all along! . Also, Nurse J, reprimanded me I said I should have asked for the information, of course in front of the NP! I could not believe, what I was hearing! Also they are famous for not calling in scripts when you ask them too, they blame the pharm. for that! At times it takes a week! I was even told one time Oh I just forgot. When I got on with Caring Hands, the NP said I would have to get some of the meds on my own because they have to order them thru a program to get them free, no problem, $3 dollar scripts. They had plenty of insulin. I also saw her write that information on my chart!! I kept calling the front office, and they kept telling me that W is too busy, we will leave her a message, I did this several times throughout the week, and I am running out of meds. I am calling the pharm. no meds I do this the 2nd week, NADA. I have gone six days without the majority of my medications. my thyroid medication was just one of them! I finally after calling repeatedly wondering what the problem was, this is 2 weeks. I get in touch with W and the first thing she says is that my ordered medications will take some time to come in. DUH It had nothing to do with following the NP's order to call in the list of meds to the pharm. She became argumentive, as usual, and I could not believe I had to go through all that to get her to understand that she needed to call in those meds. And they say I have communication issues? . I am going to college to become a RN myself, therefore, I do know a little about the way we should treat patients. Just like running out of your office W like some wild woman, into the waiting room, and blurting out in front of everyone, especially those in the front office, "Did you bring your financial information with you like I asked?" Say what? YOU never asked such a thing!! All you said was I had some meds to pick up, In the meantime, I am being blamed for not giving up my financial information the second time, to get my meds! Made to look like it was me again! It is like they are stirring something up in me, that I cannot believe that I have to deal with. When it comes to life or death situation like insulin, where was the concern, nurse J all of a sudden expressed and it was really not concern at all, just more hostility.
