Founded in 1914, The Cleveland Foundation awards grants in seven program areas: arts and culture, civic affairs, economic development, education, the environment, health and social services. Its mission is to enhance the lives of all residents of Greater Cleveland, Ohio by building community endowment, addressing needs through grantmaking and providing leadership on key community issues. Special cross-functional grantmaking initiatives include economic development; early childhood, public school improvement; strengthening mid-sized arts organizations, neighborhoods and housing and successful aging. The foundation s fields of interest include: visual arts, performing arts, arts/cultural programs; elementary school/education, secondary school/education, higher education, medical school/education; environment; health care, health associations, medical research, AIDS research; housing/shelter development, human services, youth services, aging centers and services, urban/community development, economics, government/public administration and aging.
