Provided by YP.comSecurity door was constantly broken and never closed properly and front desk was usually left unattended, my child was left unattended in a room while the rest of the class went outside, and a teacher used my son's hand to retaliate against another child. We only found out about the last event after the fired teacher had contacted us via social media. The center lied to us and told us that it didn't directly involve our son. After discussing the issue further, we found out that she had actually used my son's hand to grab the child's hair. After the truth came out, we received an incident report 3 weeks after the incident date. I think that basically sums up my experience at this daycare.

Provided by YP.comMy daughter has attended Play Academy in Highland Heights for a couple of years now. The classrooms are nice and they have nice play areas for the children. There is an indoor play area that allows the children to run about even when the weather does not permit outdoor play, which is wonderful. It seems like the summer menu has improved. They would serve salsa and chips and call that a meal or a simple broth and call it soup - my daughter would be really hungry when she came home. It just wasn't a very child friendly menu. I also don't like that they close on the day before holidays. For example, I was extremely irritated that they closed on July 3 this year. I still had to work. I was put in a major bind because I didn't have any available sitter. They put a sign up with less than 2 weeks' notice, and by then, it was too late to request the day off. A child care facility should not close if it is not a holiday. I had to take an un-approved day off work. Same thing happened when they closed early for Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and the day after Thanksgiving. If it is not an official holiday, parents are not always able to get a day off. That should be taken into consideration. I am truly considering moving her to another facility with less abrupt days off. Another thing that bothers me is that there is almost no one available to speak with about questions/concerns. There used to be the owner who sat at the front desk. She was always available (or at least someone was). Now, that they've opened the new facility, the front desk is almost always unattended, and they don't take the phone with them when they walk away. If there is an emergency, which I've had, you call and get their voice mail, which from my experience, is not checked regularly. It used to be such a nice place to have your child, but they are really slipping. What a shame.

Provided by YP.comHighly recommended and extremely satisfied with the care and attention given to my daughter by the staff. I visited several other preschool and daycares; Play Academy was the absolute best choice by far. I especially love receiving pictures almost daily of what my daughter's class is doing and e-mails about the books and different topics the children are learning about for the week. Great job to the staff!

Provided by YP.comIt was a good place for infants. Not anymore. High turnover of caregivers, toys are not cleaned, always sticky with food and saliva....Housekeeping may take place one night but not the other. From 6am to 7am, there is only one teacher who keeps kids and infants in toddler room. If your infant soiled herself, teacher can't leave the room to changing station in infant room to change or feed...they don't stick with required state ratio everyday. Their fees are similar to top notch daycares in the area.
This response was a misunderstanding between the center and the parent. We are always in ratio at the center. We do have someone who comes in to clean the center on a daily basis. We did have some turnover with teachers during this time. Most centers have some turnover with teachers. We want to make sure that we get the right person hired for our school, sometimes that may take a while.

Provided by YP.comI have 2 children currently enrolled at Play Academy in Highland Heights, one is almost a year old, and the other is 3 and a half! Let me be the first to tell you, this is absolutely the best child care facility I have ever laid my eyes on! My husband and I spent weeks sifting through the many, many daycares but none seemed to grab our attention. A friend recommended me to check out Play Academy; best choice ever made! The staff is exceptionally nice and educated, and work great with children. The owner is one of the nicest women I have ever met, and her own mother is the cook. Nice home cooked meals, colorful, joyous rooms, and extremely nice people make Play Academy #1 in my book! Since I enrolled last year, I have suggested to 4 of my friends to enroll their children, and they did, and they absolutely love it also!
If you are looking for safe, loving and educational child care, I STRONGLY recommend Play Academy!
