The Industrial Commission of Ohio serves injured workers and Ohio employers through expeditious and impartial resolution of issues arising from workers compensation claims and through establishment of adjudication policy. Since 1912 the Ohio's workers' compensation system has helped employees and employers by providing medical benefits and compensation to individuals who suffer a work-related injury or occupational disease. Two separate agencies administer Ohio's workers' compensation system: the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and the Industrial Commission of Ohio. The BWC is responsible for collecting workers' compensation insurance premiums, overseeing the insurance system and paying out compensable claims. The IC steps in when a BWC claim is disputed.
