Would not recommend!!

My family and I reserved a cabin for a three-day weekend through Amigo Realty. When we got up to take a shower the first morning, we realized the hot water heater was not working. Therefore, we drove up to the main road (phones did not work at the cabin and there was no local phone installed in cabin, which is to be expected in a remote location), called the office, and they said they would send out a handyman to the cabin. We then cancelled our immediate plans and waited an hour and a half on the handyman who left saying that he had fixed it. We then left the cabin for the day and returned that night at around 9 pm to find that the water heater was still not working. The next morning, we went back down to the road, called Amigo Realty again, and had to leave a message as no one was there during their office hours. I stated in my message that I would wait up by the road for 20 minutes to hear back from them, and they never returned my call. My family and I decided that we did not want to deal with the hassle of waiting around on someone to come out and fix the hot water heater again, and left the cabin a day early (which we were eventually refunded for). We went by the office before check-out time, but only the receptionist was available. We told her we were leaving early because of this major inconvenience, and that we expected a full refund for the day that we weren’t staying and a partial refund for the two nights that we stayed without hot water. I received an email from one of the real estate agents the following week telling me that they had cut a check for the night that we DIDN'T stay and were mailing it out to me. When I expressed my dissatisfaction through an email reply, I heard nothing back until a week and a half later AFTER one of my family members called to try to take care of the situation, because I did not have the time. I then received another email from the same agent telling me that they had no intention of refunding us for the time we stayed claiming that we should have notified them that the problem continued and that we did not even check out on time. Have reported them to the BBB. They have been dishonest through all communication: stating that the hot water heater was working when they left the keys (never worked -- ice cold water), implying that we had tried to work on it ourselves (we pulled out the refrigerator which was blocking the hot water heater for the maintenance man), stating that they offer other accommodations for dissatisfied customers (never offered), stating that the hot water heater was working after we left (one real estate agent specifically stated that it had to be replaced after we left), and stating that we didn't check out on time (we checked out at 10:45 a.m.). Highly dissatisfied with the realty company!! Would definitely recommend looking elsewhere in Cloudcroft for your stay -- wonderful little town, scenic, and lots of friendly people -- except for our interaction with this company.
