Coeburn High School enrolls more than 400 students, and offers classes in grades nine through 12. Located in Coeburn, Va., it serves the students in Wise County, and is governed by the Wise County Public Schools. The school offers a detailed instruction in English, laboratory science, mathematics, world geography and history, United States history and government, foreign language, health and physical education, fine and practical arts, and electives. The school s extracurricular activities include art and computer clubs, debates, student council, National Honor Society, drama club, chorus and band, and yearbook preparation. Its sport programs include baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross-country, football, golf, softball, tennis, track, volleyball and wrestling. It has a fully equipped library and also offers guidance and counseling services. The district operates more than 80 school buses for the transportation of more than 6,000 students attending its schools.
