The Cohasset Police Department is a government agency that works to provide a safe environment through the enforcement of local, state and federal laws. It maintains a criminal investigation division that works in conjunction with federal, military, state and other local law enforcement agencies to solve serious crimes. Its detectives participate in a number of regional task forces, including the South Shore Drug Task Force, the Massachusetts US Attorney's Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council and the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council's Investigative Support Unit. Its patrol division is responsible for conducting high-visibility patrol that serves as a deterrent to criminal activity and remaining accessible to members of the community. The department conducts pre-employment background investigations, as well as offers dignitary protection services. The department maintains a communication center that offers fire, police and medical services. It is located in Cohasset, Mass.
