I hired Mr. Christopher Cohen in 2010 to replace my roof when I discovered a leak in a back bedroom, which is situated under the rain box on the roof.



Mr. Cohen installed a new roof and charged me $3,175 for it. However, the original problem, a leaky rain box which was installed too high, wasn't replaced or corrected, and the roof continued to leak. I wasn't aware of it for over a year, because I didn't go into my back bedroom until I was finally able to afford the replacement of the plaster board, which was damaged by the initial leaky roof. Two weeks after the new drywall was installed and the room was painted, I noticed a new leak on the same wall.



I contacted Mr. Cohen as soon as I noticed the new leak, but he ignored my emails. I finally called him on someone else's cell phone, which he didn't recognize, so he answered my call. When I asked him to come back and repair the leak, he was furious and blamed me for not calling him earlier! I reminded him about the ten years warranty he gave me, and demanded that he'll return to fix the problem.



When he finally showed up, he smeared roofing cement over the rain box opening, which blocked the rain box, and prevented the rain from going down the rain pipe. This, in turn, caused the rain water to stain the new interior wall. I emailed him, repeatedly, about this problem, but I never received a reply.



A year later I finally hired another roofer, who corrected the problem. The installation of the new rain box, the removal of the old roofing cement, and the resealing of the rain box cost $400. I contacted Mr. Cohen and demanded that he'll reimburse me for this expense. His reaction was that he plans to sue me for defamation of character. (I have a legitimate complain: My roof leaked, and he did not honor his warranty!!!)



He also said that the warranty was void, because I had another roofer repair my roof, (I had to have it done by someone else, because Mr. Cohen did not return my calls and did not reply to my emails, while my roof and bedroom wall were being damaged by the rain).



He then said that because I did not have my new roof coated within 60 days after installations, the warranty is voided. (He never told me that I needed to have my new roof coated after he installed it. I have the contract to prove it).



Then he (Or his staff) wrote nasty lies about me on Angie's List web page, calling me "Difficult" and saying that I am a bad home owner, because I neglect my house!



Mr. Cohen and his cronies are fly-by-night bullies with no morals nor work ethics. They will lie and cheat, for as long as they can, and then threat to sue the customer if s/he continues to complain about their shoddy workmanship.

Thanks for all the good work you did on our windows. They really look great. Your crew of workers did an excellent job. They were in and out of the house, and finished the job in less than 2 days! Thats quite an impressive task, considering there were 24 windows to be installed, along with a new slider to our deck. Everything was cleaned up and all debris was removed. Our punch list was non-existent! We looked at a few contractors, but have no doubt we chose the right guys to do the job. Thanks again for the great work. We would highly recommend you to anyone considering a job like this! John M

Work Description: We had our siding windows replaced, a new deck put on, the kitchen remodeling, and our front porch redone. Comments: I was very happy with their work and would definitely recommend them to friends and family. Chris and his workers were extremely professional, prompt, very attentive and accommodating, and the price was fair

Cohen construction replaced my roof and did a great job. They showed up on time and completed the job in one day and on budget.
