Hello humankindness. Its more than a tagline. Humankindness is one of the many things we all have in common. Its the good within us. The power that connects us. And at CommonSpirit Health, we fuse it into heartfelt healing, inspired innovation, and mindful medicine. Its in how we provide treatment and the way we treat patients. Our communities need caring, and our families need support. CommonSpirit Health is committed to building healthy communities by advocating for those who are poor and vulnerable, and innovating how and where healing can happen. Because the way care is provided is often as meaningful as the care itself.

Following a B/K amputation of my right leg, I spent about 2 weeks in the rehab unit of Penrose Hospital. Each day was filled with physical and occupational therapy sessions designed to get me home with the strength and abilities I would need to live independently and safely. I spent 3 hours in physical therapy and 3 hours in occupational therapy each day--part in the morning and part in the afternoon. PT for strengthening, building endurance, ROM and getting ready to wear and walk with a prosthesis. OT for activities of daily living (ADL)--like transferring to and from vehicles, showering, cooking, doing laundry, etc. The entire staff is well trained and eager to see their patients succeed. I have been home for 5 months and am doing very well. With support of my husband and others, I am taking care of most household chores (cooking, bill paying, laundry etc.) and am even able to drive. I highly recommend Penrose Hospital and especially their rehab services.
