Provided by YP.comFollowing a B/K amputation of my right leg, I spent about 2 weeks in the rehab unit of Penrose Hospital. Each day was filled with physical and occupational therapy sessions designed to get me home with the strength and abilities I would need to live independently and safely. I spent 3 hours in physical therapy and 3 hours in occupational therapy each day--part in the morning and part in the afternoon. PT for strengthening, building endurance, ROM and getting ready to wear and walk with a prosthesis. OT for activities of daily living (ADL)--like transferring to and from vehicles, showering, cooking, doing laundry, etc. The entire staff is well trained and eager to see their patients succeed. I have been home for 5 months and am doing very well. With support of my husband and others, I am taking care of most household chores (cooking, bill paying, laundry etc.) and am even able to drive. I highly recommend Penrose Hospital and especially their rehab services.
