I have been seeing Dr. Douglas Evans since 2005.ÃÂ Although his office is 105 miles away from where I live in Longmont, I happily make the trip down to have him do all of my dental work.ÃÂ I was seeking a dentist who specialized in cosmetic dentistry and who accepted my insurance, and Dr. Evans met both criteria.ÃÂ Before opening his private practice in 2003, Dr. Evans was an Air Force dentist for 23 years, and as a veteran myself, I knew that military dentists were trained to conserve teeth to the fullest extent possible.ÃÂ This was very important to me since I'm trying to keep my teeth for as long as possible.ÃÂ And after all, isn't that what we all want?ÃÂ Dr. Evans always recommends the most conservative treatment that will prolong the life of a tooth.
Quick story to bring home this point...on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving of 2011, a cusp of a lower molar had broken off and the sharp edge was cutting my tongue.ÃÂ I immediately had visions of a root canal and a crown while I was dashing around town gathering everything I needed to put on a Thanksgiving Day feast.ÃÂ I called Dr. Evans' office and was told that he would stay late on Wednesday if I could make the drive down.ÃÂ I was relieved that he agreed to see me on such short notice.ÃÂ After examining the tooth and taking an x-ray, he suggested that he drill into the remaining tooth and place a pin, sort of like dental rebar, he explained, into that opening, and then cover that with resin and shape it so that it looked like my original tooth.ÃÂ I agreed, he did the procedure right then, it looked great, felt even better, and I was out the door with a $68 co-pay (and on my way to buy that @#$%& turkey!).ÃÂ No root canal.ÃÂ No crown.ÃÂ No pain.ÃÂ And it still looks and feels great and I chew on that molar all the time.
On other teeth, he has done a root canal, a tooth extraction, a couple of crowns, a bridge, and several implants for me.ÃÂ Other dentists who have seen his work marvel at his finished products.ÃÂ As a result, I now drive to Dr. Evans' office for all of my dental needs.ÃÂ Dr. Evans has a Masters degree in prosthodontics (cosmetic surgery) in addition to his DDS and is the only prosthodontist along the front range who has passed the rigorous Board examination making him the only Board-certified prosthodontist in the region.ÃÂ He also has additional training in dental biomaterials.ÃÂ Dr. Evans possesses both superior logical skills and exceptional artistic abilities and is a true perfectionist.ÃÂ He is the nicest guy and he's very kind, happy, and patient.ÃÂ He explains things well, answers all my questions in an easy-to-understand way, and accepts a wide variety of insurance plans.ÃÂ He has a beautiful office, a wonderful assistant and hygienist and his staff is also friendly and very experienced and can easily tell you what your insurance will cover and in what amounts.ÃÂ Dr. Evans has his own lab on the premises where all his pre-fabrication work is done including repairs to existing dentures.ÃÂ He is like a one-stop-shop for all your dental needs.
If you and your family are not being treated by Dr. Evans, you may not know what you're missing.àIt doesn't get any better than this. As I've been saying for years, âÂÂThank heavens for Dr. Evans!âÂÂ
