Provided by YP.comWow!A friend recommended that I take my ski boots to the ski shop because after my first trip skiing on my new boots (I got at a chain in Denver) I lost the toe nails on both my big toes. Well, the boot tech at the ski shop took a lot of time looking at my feet and the boots I purchased and informed me that my boots WERE TWO SIZES TOO BIG and wrong performance grade for my skiing. They fit me with some new Atomic boots and I just came back from a week trip to Steamboat and it was the most comfortable five days of skiing IN MY LIFE! The boots I got at the ski shop were on sale and they took my crappy boots in on trade in. So, it was about the same price for a better set of boots that actually fit my feet and skiing ability and they told me if i do ever need any adjustments they'd do those free of charge; as many as it takes for a couple years. I live in Denver and other skiiers i know actually travel to Co spgs to go there because it saves time, money, and pain in the long run. Wish I would have known that the first go around. Cheers Ski shop!

We went in with a friend today to get a replacement strap for a snowboard binding. Our friend asked for an "ankle strap" and the guy at the repair counter said "there's no such thing as an ankle strap," in a very rude manner. He offered little assistance but found the part we needed...the ankle strap (you know, the strap that goes around your ankle??). The way this tattooed guy talked to costumers was not something I'd come back for....disappointed.

It is hard for the public to see the importance of small ski shops whether they are in PA or CO in the shadow of the Big Box Marketing Machine. But we try. . . .http://www.eventcentralpa.com/blog/2009/09/what-the-closing-of-a-locally-owned-business-treasure-may-mean-for-you/Pass the word.SW

Go to the big box stores if you want cheap stuff and crappy service. Go to The Ski Shop if you want good stuff cheap and the best service I have seen ANYWHERE (I've got over a thousand days skiing and snowboarding in 8 states and four countries). It has that "old school" feel...ya know like a mountain resort shop. And, i have dealt with everyone from the owner (Rick Uhl...son and heir to Wolfgang Uhl who retired a few years ago) to the shop guys (ask for Mason-don't let his Texas accent fool ya..he can rip it!) and almost all of them remembered my name the next time I came in...and again...and again. I can't tell you how many people I have I referred to Rick and the crew at The Ski Shop but I consider it my duty as ski enthusiast (and now snowboarder) and someone who thinks big box stores have ruined independent/family owned outfits all over the US. Don't just take the word of an ol' ski bum...check 'em out for yourself YOU WON"T REGRET IT!
