I am a member of MTNA with many students successfully performed in different competitions,All-State and All-County youth orchestras.   I believe that private lessons are the best way for anyone to learn how to play an instrument. The one-on-one lesson means that students are given instruction that best suits how they, as individuals, learn. Private lessons also permit students to learn the type of music in which they personally are most interested. Also with private lessons a teacher can focus 100% of his or her attention on that one student to ensure that things such as hand positioning, posture or understanding of a particular concept are correct.     I offer 30 minute, 45 minute and 1 hour cello, piano and music theory/ear training lessons. I teach students from beginners to very advanced. Students are given an opportunity to perform in recitals held over the course of the year. I teach in Columbia, Eldersburg and Westminster.

I’ve been a huge fan of cello since I was – as my husband likes to say – a “two-footer,” meaning a small child. I finally began taking cello lessons after getting my first job out of college, but made only little progress while struggling to unlearn bad habits – until I met Dr. Kozlov! Within two months of studying with Dr. Kozlov, my husband noticed that I began to play markedly better, in both technique and confidence. Dr. Kozlov is down to earth, despite his impressive academic and professional background, and apt to explain music in an accessible and fun way.

When Dr. Kozlov demonstrates a brief passage on his cello, for those few seconds you get a glimpse of the breathtaking and transporting beauty of his music. When he explains how you can do the same, you will be inspired and motivated to continue practicing. However, as extraordinary as he is of a performer and instructor of the cello, Dr. Kozlov is such a likable person even without his instrument. Respectful and respectable, he has become a friend to my husband and me (not just because he has helped me tackle 2 movements of the Bach suites!). In him you will find an excellent teacher, a friend, role model and an inspiration.

If you are looking for a cello teacher, I cannot recommend Dr. Kozlov highly enough.

I am very happy to work with Dr. Kozlov in the cello instruction.

We work with teenagers happy to play this wonderful instrument.

Maxim brought a lot of expertise and professionalism in our

group and I warmly recommend every teenager to try to play

an instrument; it is an unforgetable experience.

I highly recommend Dr. Kozlov

I highly recommend Dr. Maxim Kozlov for cello instruction or as an ensemble coach for children or adults. He is highly qualified, patient, encouraging and has an ability to engage young learners to work to the best of their abilities. Maxim is a dedicated instructor with a heart for teaching and he taught my child for 6 years. He not only taught him how to improve his ability on the cello, but helped him set goals, manage his practice time and motivated him to do his best. I have also had Maxim coach my adult piano trio and our group benefited immensely from his instruction.

I have been teaching cello for over 20 years. I have DMA in Pedagogy, and I studied at Moscow Conservatory and Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. I am offering private piano and cello lessons. I have found that private one-on-one lesson allows students to progress at their own pace and attain the highest understanding of musical techniques. Students can start private lessons as young as 4 years old.
