NBA Woodhaven is a nonprofit organization located in Columbia, Mo., that serves men and women living with developmental disabilities. Its mission is to provide compassionate assistance to people living with developmental disabilities to help them make choices that enhance their lives and promote independence. NBA Woodhaven was founded in 1964 as a service unit of the National Benevolent Association of the Christian Church or NBA. The NBA is one of the largest charitable organizations in the world with more than 94 units serving more than 24,000 individuals. The NBA began through prayer with a small group of ladies seeking God's direction on how they might help a hurting world. The NBA's various units serve the abused, developmentally disabled and the elderly. NBA Woodhaven serves individuals ranging in age from 19 to 70 in 45 homes and apartments throughout Columbia.
