Provided by YP.comYour money is better spent elsewhere. Marble and Granite Design installed my granite and tile for the remodeling of my kitchen. The granite did turn out okay; however, things that were discussed during the design phase, were conveniently forgotten when the stone was cut. Once the stone was installed was when it was brought the the company's attention. Due to the fact that it was already installed and it was only a minor flaw, it was left the way it was.
The tile is what is so disappointing. When it was first installed it appeared to be perfect. I was very pleased; however, as months went by the grout that was used between the tile and the granite began to break away. I finally called the owner to notify him. The tile supposedly came with a two year warranty. I first left a message explaining the situation. A few weeks went by and did not hear back. I called again and spoke with the owner, Peter. I explained what was going on. He states, "We did the tile, we should fix it." He promised to call me the next day to set up a time to come over. Again, several weeks went by and I never heard from him. I then call back and spoke with the receptionist, and she said she would give him the message to call me. Again, several weeks went by and never heard a thing. I finally call there again for the fourth time. I spoke with the receptionist again, and told her of my experience. She apologized and scheduled a time for Peter, the owner, to come and take a look at the tile.
The day that Peter was to come and look at the tile, he called me and apologized that he was running late. Asked me what the problem was with the tile. I explained again, and he actually chuckled into the phone and stated that grout and granite don't really like to be next to each other.
I know that I am not the only person that has tile backsplash touching the granite. Why Peter decided to use grout as oppose to caulk or something else, I do not know. Needless to say, Peter never did call me back nor did he ever come by to see the grout lines. I have actually decided that I don't trust him to fix it properly since he knowingly installed it incorrectly. My only hope is to save others from having this frustrating experience.
