Gibbes Middle School is an educational institution that provides a variety of learning opportunities for more than 500 students in grades six through eight. It offers classes in math, reading and grammar. The school also provides accelerated reader, after-school tutorial and advanced academic programs. Gibbes Middle School organizes various extracurricular activities, such as band, drama and dance. In addition, it offers diagnostic and remedial services. The school operates a student council and parent-teacher organization, as well as organizes volleyball and basketball tournaments. Gibbes Middle School has received the Columbia Urban League's Public Service Award. It is a part of the Richland County School District One, which serves students in elementary, middle and high schools.
