The department s conservation services include a full-service paper conservation facility, with services available to the public. Visitors to the center use state s legislative, executive, military, court, county, municipal and state agency records to compile family histories, write books and articles, and compose school papers and projects. The agency also comprises the South Carolina Archives and History Foundation, a private nonprofit organization that supports the programs of the department.
