I only saw Dr. Barr for about a year 10 years ago but I found him to be compassionate, attentive, and genuinely concerned about my mental health. I remember taking my 3 year old daughter with me once because I had no other alternative but to cancel my appointment. He was very patient with her and with me. If you have ever had a 3 year old, you know they are into everything and Dr. Barr had lots of things in his office that caught her attention. He was understanding and tolerant of her behavior and of me when I had to correct her behavior by interrupting our visit and "wrangling" her back to the sofa. He was excellent about prescribing needed medication even though the medication that best treated my issues was a benzodiazapine, which many doctors do not want to do these days.
