Provided by YP.comHISTORY: Have purchased a higher end Felt time trial bike and a kids mountain bike there in the last two years, plus have gone in for miscellaneous stuff.
PROS: Friendly service, shop well stocked. Decent prices for a local bike shop. Loaned me some nice wheels for a race at no charge. They organize regular rides and support the cycling community.
NEGATIVE experiences:
- Consignment of a bike went badly – it was sold and no one contacted me or knew the status of the bike.
- Brought wheels into shop for clicking in front hub. Was told it just needed lubrication between axle and fork. Worked fine for about 10 mins and clicking returned. Subsequent manufacturer service revealed bad bearing.
- Wasn’t notified by shop of critical recall on Felt front fork. It was up to me to find this out from a friend who saw it on Internet. If it was my business, I’d be keeping an eye out for recalls on my brands and notify customers proactively. Especially for potential of catastrophic failure like head tube breaking.
- Ordered cone wrench. Was never called to to be told it was in. Had to call myself. This seems typical when dealing with them.
- Ordered bike shop branded kit and it was never delivered. Impression was given that my kit went to a rider the shop was sponsoring. Paying customers first anyone?
- Purchase pressure. I have noticed and others have commented similarly to me that there is a car dealership vibe regarding purchasing bikes in the store. This is around purchase pressure and the “let me check with the manager” on best price for bike, haggling kind of stuff.
Overall - I can’t recommend and would suggest you try another local shop.
