Columbus City Public Works/Environmental Services Department is governed by the City of Columbus. Based in Columbus, Neb., the department provides public facilities and services through six divisions, namely Water Billing, Water Production, Water Utility, Wastewater, Transfer Station and Recycle Center. It recycles newspapers, residential mixed paper, aluminum cans, plastic containers, plastic bags and film, cardboard and steel cans. Columbus City Public Works/Environmental Services Department concentrates on root cutting and grease removal in designated areas. The Water Utility Division operates a water distribution system and sanitary sewer collection system.
