I was referred to Dr. Pedrick by my primary care doc for a specific ailment. His office called to set up the appointment and get my info, when they asked for my Social Security Number, I told them I didn't think they needed it, as I am very aware of the potential abuse of SSN's, as my insurance is very good and they could verify that prior to my visit. She demanded my SSN and said without it I wouldn't be able to even make an appointment. After mulling it over because my pain wasn't going away, I called the office back and asked if we could try and get me an appointment and that I would provide my SSN, the surely admin said I had to go back to my primary care doc and get another referral to them as they had thrown away all my info after the first call. I guess they don't deal with many patients who are concerned with identity theft or just don't care.
