Originally known as Wilson Floors, Legacy Commercial Flooring was founded by Walter Wilson in 1900. Wilson Floors came to Columbus, Ohio, in 1914 and was instrumental in running a company primarily known for cutting linoleum to enhance the look and design of a floor until 1943. In 1972, Wilson Floors proved they could do carpet as well when it was awarded its largest project, 60,000 square yards of Lees Faculty IV Carpet at the Rhodes State Office Tower. In 1996, Wilson Floors was acquired by E.I. Dupont and operated under the name of DuPont Flooring Systems from 1996 until 2003, when the name was changed to the Invironmentalists as they then became a part of Invista. In March 2005, George Holinga and Tony Nixon purchased the company. The partners purchased the three Invironmentalists locations in Columbus, Cincinnati and Cleveland, Ohio. The new venture known as Legacy Commercial Flooring brings the 105-year-old enterprise full circle, back to a locally owned and operated business.
