My only gripe with this place ...

My only gripe with this place is that they have delicious, self-serve coffee outside for the people patiently waiting for a table, but you can't add it to your tab if you partake. I never carry cash so I had to run to an ATM just to make sure I didn't end up on Santa's naughty list this year. Other than that, it's heaven. The food is excellent, and the portions are more than generous. This is hearty, southern-style comfort food right in the heart of Ohio! Can't wait to hit it up again, but I will be sure to have a couple bills in my pocket before I get there :)

Small Restaurant, Big Flavor! ...

Small Restaurant, Big Flavor!

My wife and I had lunch at Skillet, and we were very impressed. This intimate restaurant serving locally produced food has a nice vibe. There were families with babies, people in their sixties and young couples. The tables were close enough that we were able to talk to the couple at the next table, and they turned out to be regulars at Skillet. In spite of being packed, it was not too loud, and the music was mostly unobtrusive.

I take apple cider for granted, but the cider served at Skilliet is the best I've ever had. Not too sweet, with a wonderful flavor ($3 for a tall glass).

My "pot roast" shredded turkey was moist and yummy, and the gravy tasted homemade, as did the mashed potatoes. My wife's pulled pork was also fine, and her macaroni was spiced an unexpected kick of hot pepper. Great flavor, and not salty. Our entrees each cost around $13.

The path to the one bathroom is through the kitchen, and I noticed that the kitchen is spotlessly clean. We'll be back!
