I recently spent two nights (Sunday and Monday) at German Village Guest House during a trip to Columbus. I stayed in Room 2. (There are 3 rooms available). My room was beautifully decorated in blue and white, with fresh flowers on the nightstand. I had a private bathroom with a stall shower.
When I arrived Sunday afternoon, a plate of fresh chocolate chip cookies and a pitcher of freshly-brewed tea awaited me in the kitchen. The kitchen was also stocked with a Keurig, loose-leaf tea, and an assortment of snacks. I also found handy brochures on German Village, plus a booklet with self-guided walking tours.
Breakfast my first morning included: slices of whole wheat bread, condiments for toast, lemon cake, green grapes, cantaloupe, mixed berries, hard-boiled eggs, and homemade yogurt. Breakfast the second day was similar, but with cinnamon pecan cake, red grapes, and watermelon.
I especially enjoyed the charming backyard and garden. I spent some time on the patio drinking wine under the twinkly lights.
There is a charming common area. If you arrive in Columbus before check-in, you should be able to access the b&b itself, if not your room, early. I wish I had done this.
My only criticism is the accessibility. It is not handicap accessible. There is one room on the first floor, so if you can walk up the few stairs to the front door, you can still stay here. The second floor is up very steep stairs, however.
I plan on coming back (on my own dime!) with my husband. As much as I enjoyed my stay, this b&b would be even better for a romantic trip.
