Provided by YPmobileI have stopped by Pepboys to find out if I could get someone to take a look at my car regarding my engine check. They have explained to me that they wouldn't be able to look at my vehicle Because my had no avaiablity which was understandable so I ask for a second option to see what can do as far the engine check light so they told me about scanner tool and referee me to the parts counter which I met a young black lady with dreadlocks I don't know her name but she slightly had an acent. She help me with the tools and scanners and a next customer was being extremely rude towards her.I'm glad a got help from her .She is a great employee. Great customer service.

Provided by YPmobileThis is the worst workshop I have been to. Had a 9am appt. on Sunday, and it took 4 hrs to complete an oil change and state inspection, even though I booked online a few days in advance, and was also the 1st person to be attended to.
The service advisers need to be given customer service training, as that skill set is glaring absent in the conduct of their duties.
If you do need new tires or an oil change, you are better off going to Mavis on route 110 in Huntington. It is a smaller shop, but their services and prices are way much better.

Provided by YP.comI wish I had looked at the reviews to Pep boys before I sent my family to this place today. My parents came out to the Island to visit me and their battery died. We had to have the car towed Saturday 9/26 at 6:30pm to Pep Boys. They told us that there was no way they would get to it tonight before closing at 8pm, but they would look at it first thing in the morning. Although a battery swap wouldn't take that long the garage was full and we were at the bottom of the list when they closed in an hour and a half, so we took them at their word. With no hotel and limited space, my 60 year old parents slept on the coach.
We returned today 9/27 at 9:45am. Mike the service manager and Justin another service tech seemed friendly and told us they were taking care of the car, so my father and I took a seat in their waiting room - thinking all was well. 11:15am, my father and I asked Mike if there was any update on the car. He nonchalantly told us that his mechanic put the car on the brand new lifts and popped the front driver tire. My father and I both asked why a battery change required a lift when the car and his reply was well we have to do that for all the cars. The mechanic started yelling at us that "we all make mistakes" instead of anyone saying "sorry we messed up, but we're going to take care of it." It was unbelievable. We had to ask him several times why the lift and Mike finally said for security reasons so the cameras can see the mechanics working on the car. However, a few minutes later Mike and the mechanic told us that they put it on the lift to check out a "cranking" they heard when they went to start the car. Meanwhile his tone while explaining was condescending and elitist. To add insult to injury, the didn't have a matching tire for the truck and they had to order it from Baldwin. Mike gave us a story that the delivery trucks only make one run on Sundays and that the tire wouldn't be here until Monday. He didn't want to accommodate us nor was he apologetic for his mechanic's error that we now had to pay for. Then a few minutes later said the guy would make another run and the tire would be in around 2:30/3. He kept changing his story and what was happening. I gave him my number to call to update us and said we would be back around then to get the car. At 3pm we called Pep boys and they told us the car wasn't ready, but provided no other information. We got back to Pep boys at 3:30 and Mike ignored us. He finally acknowledged us and told us that the tire wasn't in yet. After a few minutes, he said the truck didn't come with the tire at 2:45 so he sent one of his own guys to go get it. Why didn't they tell us this at 3? Why didn't they tell us this when we first walked in? We were upset and agitated with the situation. He still did not apologize. He was defensive and aggressive. It was clear that we were stressed and upset about the situation as my parents live over an hour away and have work on Monday. He knew that he had control and was clear to show us that he had us in his grasp. The situation continued to be unresolved.
Mike threatened us and said that no one would work on the car until 6pm and it would be here another day. He even said that we had been harassing him all day - when he only called once to check on the status and we left the store at 11:45/12 in the morning. 4:30 - still no tire and not being serviced. The mysterious "crank" in the car was never checked or resolved. Mike didn't even ring us up when the car was finally finished at 4:50! He had another person close the sale again with no apology - nothing. He was abrasive, demeaning, dishonest, and aggressive. I can't believe he is a manager and that other people on here have complained about him yet he is still working. The whole experience was a mess. I will never go there again, neither will my family, and now everyone I know here will not be going there so far I have 14 cars that used to use Pep boys that will never use them again.

Provided by YP.comthese people have no professionalism in either the parts dept . or service dept or mechanics, I once brought my ford Taurus into have a hitch installed ,when I went to trade the car at my ford dealer. they said the car lost $2000 in trade value due to how the hitch was installed. they split the rear frame of the car with a zip gun [AKA air chisel ] in order to make an opening to bolt the tow bar to the frame when I returned to PeP boy they said they wouldn't have installed it that way when I ask the mechanic what tool would he use to to make the hole for the bolt ,he took out a zip gun from his tool box ,and said to me they [the store ] don't supply hole saw tool to do the job . I said what about a cutting torch,he said they wont let us use a torch for safety reasons, not to set the car on fire . I said there worried about their safety but they don't care for my safety by compromising the frame of my car. they could have diminished the frame ability to absorb impact and jeopardize the gas tank on impact causing a fire while people are in the car. So it seems to me that neither the store or the mechanic have the tools to do the job properly, luckily for me I'm a retired Body man and fixed the frame costing me a days work and about $100 in materials but the estimates I got were from $800 to $1400 and let us not forget $2000 in diminish value at trade-in . i can go on about many things they fall short on but after giving them a few chances to redeem themselves Is when I realized that this is a just a high school shop class drop off for beginners and there is really no professionals in the place so I only go there [because it close ] for small things like plugs brakes belts , I wouldn't trust my car for repairs because too many times they screwed up in fact each time I went, it was a screw up , and also half the time their attitude was not professional either, almost nasty like I owed them some thing .

Provided by YP.comThe service department in this place will rip you off. Beware!!!! Went in for an inspection & they told me I needed over $800 for brakes, struts & some other work in order to pass inspection. I took my truck to my local mechanic & it passed the inspection with no problems. They are also understaffed at the parts counter. You always end up walking around trying to find someone who can help.
