Nice guy but...

I have a utility trailer that needed two axles. Bent one on a frost heave with a full load on it, the other already had a slight bend. I really believe in keeping my money local. I called Paul and asked him if he could replace the two axles since I did not have the time to do it myself. He said it would not be a problem since he has the Amish make the axles and could do it for a good price. To be fair I told him I wasn't in a hurry to do it, but if I could get it back within a month that would be good. I dropped off the trailer in April with a request he call me with an estimate for the work and when he thinks he could get to it. I made numerous calls to him with the same request, it took 6 weeks before he got back to me to tell me that the axles were slightly off in measurement then standard? I stopped by and I was told that the trailer would be brought into the shop so they could get under it and get accurate measurements, that was in the beginning of June. I made numerous follow up calls and never heard back. I drive by the shop often and the trailer never moved. I made and additional call and still no reply. On July 1st I contacted another shop, they had an estimate to me within 2 days and the repair will be completed within 2 weeks, that includes the axles being made and shipped. I went and picked up my trailer but now, unfortunately, my money is not staying local. Paul is a nice guy but I feel 3 months was not a reasonable amount of time to wait with no contact except for once for such a small repair.
