Provided by YP.comHORRIBLE! Those people do not know what they are doing. How can people like that be allowed to work with and around pets!!! and they kill pets after 3 days..... I called in for a little cat to be picked up. I couldn't keep him, the vet checked for microchips but no luck....no one I know was interested in adopting and no one had reported a lost cat in the area when I called the POA and a few other places.... the cat wouldn't leave my property so I called animal control although I hated the thought of doing it but had ran out of option. The cat is on my door step constantly driving my indoor pets (and family) nuts....he is clearly a lost indoor pet.... As per animal control request I had placed him in a cage (he was very sweet and let me pick him up, showed no signs of aggression and was clearly used to humans. ) When the lady who works for animal control showed up, she was abrupt and barely said 2 words to me. When she approached the cage I could just tell she wasn't an animal lover AT ALL. She looked at the poor scared thing like if he was a piece of smelly garbage. She then managed to have the cat run away from her when attempting to transition from my cage to her carrier when I was able to easily grab him and put him in his cage. She wouldn't catch him again although he was right there, next to us, meowing for food and a bit scared but it wouldn't been so easy to catch him again. ..She said that unless it is in a trap she wouldn't touch him directly. I am not a vet but I know cats...I have had cats over the years... she had no clue how to handle him and clearly doesn't like animals. The cat is still sitting in my driveway... Maybe he'll grow tired of my property and go elsewhere....But based on the way that lady was talking to me (rude, short and clearly annoyed I called her to do her job) I felt that this place would have treated him horribly anyways...

Provided by YP.comThis place is horriable to their animals, they are just there for a paycheck. I had lost my pittie, and she was taken there. When I went to go retrieve her she was scared to death, and had been beetin, now she is afraid of a water hose, something she once loved. She had 2 broke ribs, and was limping. She was just a pup, and the biggest sweetheart at that. The cage she was in was about a 4x5 with 3 other dogs, on concrete floor, with no bedding, and no water. They told me that she had came in that way, but i know different. A woman who saw her missing pictures all over my neighborhood, had called me to tell me she had Terra for 2 days then took her to the pound, and she was perfectaly fine, and wasn't limping. Also said she was the sweetest thing she had ever seen. How can you be so mean to something so sweet. So what really goes on behind thoes walls at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter

Provided by YP.comYesterday I took in a stray Lab/Pit. She is not spayed but is current on all of her shots. This is an extremely loving dog, and we tried to keep her. But she is so large she just ran over me. She wanted to be a lap dog and play all the time. I am very ill so I couldn't handle her. Also the vet told us that her left front paw was caught in a trap of some type. This does not keep her from running and playing. When she gets tired she just takes a nap. She loves puppies especially tough ones that will play with her! She is an alpha dog, so she didn't get along very well with my dachshund, she wanted to play and the little dog was scared of her because she is so strong and had hurt the dachshund with her paws. I think they may have gotten into some fights when we had to leave.
I was very upset and it took everything I had not to cry. The man that took her in was so cold and unconcerned about her. I tried to tell him about her and he just wasn't interested. He let me talk about her a little but cut me off and the expression on his face was uninterested. They also had a house cat at the clinic, it was a sweet cat but it was in the printer, he had not patience with it either. I had the distinct impression that he didn't like the cat.
I also brought in some donations. He wouldn't even take them from me, just sat there while he convinced the lady sitting there to take the donations. I guess they wanted me to do something with them, I just don't know what. I had put a toy in the bag and asked them to give to the dog. They left it in the bags and put it in the pile with the other donations. Now how were they to know that that toy was hers after that?
There was a terrier in the back that was going to be adopted and being held. That poor dog was in a filthy cage.
If I had it to do over, I would have found another shelter to take Baby! The people were rude and uncaring. I didn't want to cry because there were about 10 kids in there. That would have made the experience terrible for them. It was bad enough for me and I'm a grown woman!
Never again! You need to train your staff to act like they care, and teach them some people skills! It doesn't take much to pick up on if someone cares about an animal and wants to give you info that might help you adopt out a pet!!!!
Sincerely,
Rita Belmore
