They are much better now

I went to their shop today with an old "junker" bow that I got on Craig's List for cheap. I asked how much to serve in the peep site which I already had in place. The response was "nothing-bring it I and I will do it right now" I also asked them if they had a scrap cable guard I could buy cheap. They gave me one free and even mounted it for me. Great customer service and a really friendly place. They will get all of my business from now on.

Very average archery

Joe's is "average" at best if you are either a new shooter or know how to fix your own equipment when problems arise. I was part of the purchase of 6 bows from Average Joe (2 Bowtech Assassins, 3 Diamond Razor's Edge bows and a Diamond Nuclear Ice). To save $40 Joe's recommended my daughter buy her bow from their "used" rack. For Christmas I upgraded my daughter's bow with a Ripcord arrow rest. The bow never shot straight (it shot paper poorly and the arrows looked like an MLB pitcher's curveball when shot). To his credit, Joe spent a lot of time trying to get it to shoot straight. To his detriment, the bow never shot straight and a "curve" in the arrow's flight path was always perceptible. At one point Joe's told my daughter "well, that's what you can expect when you buy a used bow." Recently my Assassin string snapped near the end loop in the top cam. The two cables on my Assassin DID NOT break, which is indicative of the fact that the bow had NOT been dry fired. I brought my bow in for Joe to personally look at. Several days later I spoke to Joe and he said it looked as if I had (somehow) cut the bowstring WITHOUT cutting the serving over the string. I expressed my opinion that it would be pretty difficult to cut the string without cutting the serving, especially when this section of the string is protected from abuse by the fact that it is lying inside of the cam's machined channel. Joe suggested I spend $50 and have him replace just the failed string, leaving my 10 month old cables on the bow. That sounded like a bad idea, so I asked Joe to inspect the limbs and cams to verify whether or not they had been damaged. Joe said the limbs looked good and that the cams were not bent or damaged. I picked my bow up the next day, and since I was going to have to pay for new strings I decided upon either Winner's Choice or Reaper strings. Joe's does not sell either of those brands, so I took my bow to a nearby competitor (who is not a Bowtech dealer). The owner of that shop asked why I was restringing my bow, and as we were talking a bowstring manufacturer happened to walk into the shop. Together, these two men suspected I had a cam issue with my bow. The men performed a simple test on the top cam and found a SUBSTANTIAL machining burr right where my string failed. They said they did not want to restring my bow until the cam problem was fixed by an authorized Bowtech dealer. At this point I felt like I owned a $600 paper weight and didn't know where to go since Joe had said that I had somehow cut my bowstring. The bowstring manufacturer recommended another local Bowtech dealer that he does business with, so I drove out to see them. It took just minutes for them to identify the same cam problem, and they got on the phone with Bowtech - who IMMEDIATELY agreed to send out a new string and cam. Bowtech also gratiously sent out 2 new cables, because they said that replacing the string alone was not the recommended way to repair my bow. During the repair, this (competitor) Bowtech Dealer also discovered a MAJOR flat spot on my lower cam (and Bowtech later sent out a replacement for that cam too)! I asked to see my old cams, and WOW... not only was there a flat spot on my lower cam, but it was bent substantially from the release of energy when my string broke. I simply cannot figure out how Joe missed the burr on my top cam, how he missed the flat spot on my bottom cam, or how he missed the fact that my bottom cam was bent? And... this (competitor) Bowtech dealer also fixed my oldest daughter's bow so that it no longer shoots "curveball" arrows. They found her bow's problem within mere minutes of watching her shoot! In summary: I recommend that anyone considering making a bow purchase try visiting SEVERAL bow shops BEFO...

Don't go here! Plenty of other places...

The "guys" here are actually a bunch of cocky douchebags. The treat the place like their personal playground and make everyone else (customers) feel like they are intruding in their playground. They act like a bunch of snobby mamma's boys, and are not "real" archers at all. Expect to be treated rudely, overpaying, and subjected to a piss-poor attitude. Unprofessional at best.

Average Joe's Archery

I first had Joe Caminati do some work on my bow when he was employed at Sportsmans Warehouse in Coon Rapids, MN. I was very impressed with his knowledge when it comes to the mechanics of a compound bow. After taking my Alpine bow to two other local archery "Pro's" and having no luck getting it to paper tune, I brought it to Joe and in less than ten minutes I was shooting bullseye's with no tear whatsoever. When it comes to tuning any of my bow's, Joe is the only guy that I'll let work on them. The service at Average Joe's is excellent and I highly recommend them.
