The senior pastor, David A. Smith, harbored an abusive husband and father of four for 13 years while telling the wife and children that they needed to submit to his authority. While the wife finally found the courage to leave and press charges that put the abuser in jail, the pastor was able to work the system and remains in his position of power over the congregation he was supposed to protect. This church is very cultish. It isn’t simply conservative and independent. There are other honest, Bible-believing, conservative baptist churches in the area. Look elsewhere.
