It all started when I happened upon a book on amazon called "Food Pets Die For: Shocking Facts about Pet Food." I didn't read the book, I only had to read the reviews of the book to know I would never, never, never buy commercial brand pet food again. I did some research and found a highly recommended natural brand and saw it was sold at Hollywood Feed so in I went. I was immediately greeted by an employee and as I approached the pet food isle, was greeted by another lovely employee who was more than willing to help. I told her my situation and she proceeded to show me brand upon brand of natural, healthy, dog food--rated 6 stars by dogfoodanalysis.com (as close as you can get to making your own dog food or buying freshly made). She was completely understanding of my concerns and when I chose my brand, she threw in six generous samples of other brands for my pup to try. It was such a great experience it actually made me ashamed that I had spent so much time and money at Petco previously. Prices were comparable to amazon.com and service far exceeded those commercial pet stores--can't compare prices to the commercial pet stores, they don't carry the good stuff. I didn't have time to shop in the rest of the store but they had tons of stuff. Leashes, toys, treats, kennels, you name it. Hollywood Feed also reminded me of the importance of shopping the local businesses--these people are dedicated to the community as opposed to being dedicated to the almighty dollar.
