Pros: Been driving 38 years. They are the best at diagnosing and fixing the problem 1st time I've ever experienced. I've had personal experience at TireKingdom & Griffins when something was "fixed" and I had to go to PS after the fact to get the problem actually taken care of. They are very reasonably priced, honest and first rate shop.

Cons: You can't be in a hurry. Hours are a bit hit/miss. If leaving your car a few days will cause heartburn, or you want pristene waiting area, go elsewhere. One man shop, but the overhead and prices are lower and you won't get sold a bunch of things you really don't need.

the guys here have really good people skills to me! they tell you like it is and hold nothing back. they're as honest as you can get with a mechanic, and they do great work to! I had a Honda civic a few years back that kept cutting off for no reason. I must have taken that car to 10 different shops before somebody recommened them and i was skeptical at first but within 5 minutes he knew what was wrong. Believe me when I say I wish I would have went there first, and saved me about 400 bucks in trying to fix an unknown problem. I wish I could give them 10 stars instead of 5!

It is what it is.

I have used Pro Steering since moving to Cornelius 9 years ago. I also heard that the guys at PS lacked people skills and were not particularly timely in making appts. or completing jobs. Initially this was also my impression but I was inaccurate or incomplete concerning my first impression assessment. The more loyal you are to them the more loyal they become to you. I recently called and explained I had a day off (same day) and wanted to bring in my truck for numerous services. The response was; "You are one of our good customers-bring it in". The job was completed the same day. They do business "old school" (value regular customers and relationships).

I found over time the following to be true and consistent:

1. The guys at at PS are not particularly concerned with people skills but they are painfully honest and ethical. I would far rather have these characteristics in a mechanic than someone who tells the customer what they want to hear to make them happy even if the info. is inaccurate or incomplete.

2. The PS guys "do not over charge" and they will offer advice on repairs as though they are talking with a good friend rather than a customer. Numerous times I have been advised by them to forgo a repair that was having no significant or tangible impact on vehicle performance or safety. They would say for example; "This repair is $600.00; Does the noise bother you that much because it probably won't get worse". I believe many other mechanics see $$$ and advise repairs that they would likely not perform on their own vehicle.

3. If they are not skilled on a specific repair/vehicle they will tell you. I recently needed a major repair on our van and believed that I had received a high quote from a dealer shop. PS assessed the quote free of charge and advised that the quote was fair. They indicated that they might be able to trim off 10% but no more and that the repair was very difficult requiring many specialized tools. In short they explained that the dealer service was my best alternative for the repair needed.

I ask for and expect 3 things in a mechanic. Honesty, honesty and honesty. The guys at PS have repeatedly met my expectations. If a repair will take them a week they will tell you this. I have been to far too many mechanics previously who will say it will be ready Wednesday knowing that it will no be ready until Friday just to get your business.

If you are in a position that you must have your vehicle by a certain date/time be upfront about this requirement and they will be honest regarding their ability to meet your needs.

My only complaint about Pro Steering is that I wish that their customers would not park on the sidewalks as this creates a safety hazard for the children in our community.

My only complaint about the community specific to Pro Steering is that I wish that the sorry individuals that robbed Pro Steering several years ago of tools that took 20 +/- years to accumulate would return the tools.

Git' R Done!

I can't even remember the first time I brought one of our cars or trucks here. I know before I call that I might not be able to get 'same day service', BUT I feel lucky if I hear, "Bring it on in and I'll try to get to it this week". This place IS busy and there's a reason. I know when I pick up my car, it's FIXED! I've never had 'an appointment', I just call and tell him all my auto problems and ask how much and when he'll have room on the lot for me to 'drop my car off'. If you are in a hurry, maybe you should go to one of the 'fly by night's' or one of the 'new' places in town that doesn't have the reputation this guy has built up over the many years he's been here.

Thanks for another GREAT JOB!!!!!

AWFUL!!!!!

We had an appoinment with this guy for over a week. When we took the car to the shop, he was no where to be found, for hours. No sign, nothing. When I finally got in touch with him, he was rude and told me we couldn't even get in today, the day we had an appointment!!!

After asking around, I heard from several people that he has horrible people skills. Quite honestly, I would rather take my car to someone else who may even charge more. It would be worth it to not give this guy my business!!!!!
