The London Independent School District serves the educational needs of more than 250 students in kindergarten through grade eight. Established in 1914, it manages a staff of over 20 teachers who provide instruction in math, language arts, science and history. The district offers in band, choir, Spanish, accelerated reading incentive and gifted and talented programs. It provides transportation, meal and health care services. The London Independent School District also participates in Square meals, which is a school dietary education and outreach program that is funded by the Department of Agriculture. It maintains a parent-teacher organization and conducts after-school ballet, piano and tutorial sessions and basketball training camps. Its students also participate in spelling bee competitions, talent shows, volunteer safety programs, and volleyball and soccer tournaments. Additionally, the district offers membership opportunities for 4-H, Boy Scouts, student council, book club and the University Interscholastic League.
