The people are the worst. They contracted with the NYS Traumatic Brain Injury Waiver Program to install a bathroom. Tthey didn't get the required permits or professionals as required by law. The job wasn't done right - the toilet and shower weren't vented properly and water pipes were installed in an outside wall which leads to freezing an bursting. The electrical work was so bad several circuits in my home no longer work and the contractor damaged a critical piece of medical equipment.

When I contacted them they became abusive and refused to meet their contractural obligations with Medicaid. I had to go to the NYS Health Department to force them to fix the work. Then the contractors did even more damage which they refuse to acknowledge or repair.

I'll have to get a lawyer and sue to get these things put right. This isn't the way things are supposed to be. Their "mission" is to help the disabled but they are abusive and demeaning to us. They've bullied and insulted me every step of the way and they were also abusive to the individual who oversaw the project for the Department of Health.

Please take what I say into consideration before you have any dealings with Access To Independence. Don't subject yourself or your disabled loved ones to their abuse, neglect and total lack of concern.
