Service Ace was selected by our home warranty company. I explained we closed on out home July 1, have an inspection report showing no issues with the HVAC, no leaking, no water. We noticed a stain on the office ceiling, went up into the attic & found the HVAC conduit leaking heavily. After about five minutes the Tech said he thought there was a drain clogged & the unit needed Freon. I questioned him as there was no water sitting in the tray & the home inspection showed freon was not low. The Tech called the owner who was on vacation said he would be able to come out in a week which we all agreed. Once the owner arrived he went up in the attic and said this was a pre-existing condition & the home warranty company would not cover it. I questioned him again providing the Inspection stating there was no issues, nothing wet and he then changed his diagnosis. Saying he couldn’t think of anything other than not having enough insulation. This makes absolutely no sense with the age of the house in the condition that has not changed how is it only in the last three weeks the lack of insulation has caused such a leak? Two days later only after I called and text several times did the home warranty company call me back letting me know that the providers description of the issue was not covered. I reached back out to the contractor asking what the cost would be to get this fixed as we are now going on two weeks from the date that I saw the leak in the ceiling. His response was I’m just being honest, I’m inundated, I have myself and my helper and I don’t have time to fix it. So rather than telling the warranty company he didn’t have time to fix the issue allowing someone else to do it he just blew it off & tried to charge for items I didn’t need! He Actually text back to me “your issue is with the warranty company not me a lot of companies won’t even go up in the attic.” Really? An HVAC company that won’t go in the attic to find an issue? How are you going to fix it?
